Talking to my uncle I found out there's a waterfall "near" my house, and I say "near" 'cause it's a three-hour walk away. A three-hour walk, with a machete in one hand, and a rifle in the other, a trip I'll have to recruit someone to come with. Tough, I know, but still, right now, the only problem I see with this is the part that involves taking dozens of pictures; hence the plan.
Say hello to my master/evil plan
1.- Convince my mum to buy me a new charger
2.- Convince my mum to buy me new batteries
3.- Show my mum my excellent grades in school
4.- Then ask her to buy me new shoes
4.1.- Buy a new memory card on the same trip, she'll see me spending my own money on something that's actually (sort of) productive. It translates into cookie-points (which is good for me, 'cause I'll need them later).
5.- Two weeks later, let her know I already trashed my new, nice clothes (by the phone, of course).
6.- Take a hike to the waterfall and the historic bridges around the time she'll be targeting me to 'search and destroy' because of the clothes.
7.- Actually get there and take some nice photos.
All the Universe has to do to help me is hold back on the rain for two weeks, if it rains (the 'soaking wet' kind of rain) before that, I'm pretty much screwed until November. If it only rains that 'singing in the rain' rain, then I'm good to go as long as the ground has at least a week to dry a bit, otherwise I might get stuck in the mud a freeze to death in there.
Tomorrow I'll be talking to a friend about borrowing a GPS, I mean, I really don't want to get lost and risk spending an afternoon with all the poisonous spiders this place has. When I've said before that I live practically in the woods, I mean it. Right now, to my right there's a long street with a couple dozens of houses, to my left there's the vast and green empire of nature. It has red and blue spiders, hairy spiders, bald spiders, big spiders, huge spiders, jumbo-sized spiders and the mother-spider-of-them-all that could probably swallow me whole. It also has hawks (the small kind), some rabbits, some lizards, mosquitoes that I'm allergic to, bees and wasps that I'm *really* allergic to, and no snakes 'till summer (thank god). And that's it. I've already downloaded some maps, I've got a lot of images from Google Earth and I'll be talking to a guy that used to work in the old hydroelectric plant nearby the waterfall (yes, again, near means like maybe two-hour walk away) so he can tell me about the place, what should I bring and stuff, maybe he can give me a ride to the hydroelectric plant, so that's a start, that's like an hour less of walking, so who knows, right now, I've got to focus on the camera stuff. Wish me luck!
