The dangers of travelling on the bus

Fri Jul 24, 2009, 9:24 AM
It was dark. It was cold. It was crowded.

The sign on the front of the bus says "Capacity: 28 sitting, 17 standing". There were 28 sitting and around 25 zombie-faced people standing in the narrow aisle. I was one of them, zombie face and everything. There was a guy fiddling with an MP3 player to my left and a beautiful lady I call 'mum' to my right.

I was telling my mum about my day (that's a 10-minute conversation right there -10 minutes you'll never get back, by the way-) and this guy to my left just kept moving and fiddling and trying to balance his wanna-be-iPod, his cellphone and his overpriced (not)leather bag, without letting go of the handle bar, which is impossible you know?

I was going into excruciating detail over what I ate for lunch, trying my hardest to gross out as many eavesdroppers as possible, when out of the blue the guy to my left (the Jackass from now on) hits me in the back of my head. Just like that. A shower of ice-cold-freezing water when you least expect it, except it was dizziness, a lot of it.

Reflecting on it now, it felt as if my brain had leaped from his usual spot inside my head to a brand new painful spot and then backed away so quickly it hit the wall behind it and so, as to get away from the pain once again, it leaped forward, hitting the front wall it had visited mere milliseconds before, and yet again, to avoid the pain, it jumped back so hard that... a few dozen times.

I think the Jackass wasn't even trying to apologise until he saw my mum watching him so intently it was more than obvious she was memorising his face to have him killed.

He gave me an apologetic smile (shark-like) and said 'sorry'. I just kept rubbing my sore spot trying to hold the ideas from abandoning ship (nobody likes violence, you see?) and tried (but failed miserably) to smile back (it turned out to be more like a smirk; an I-have-a-ninja-on-speed-dial kind of smirk). After that, we just pretended nothing happened, and I managed not to throw up.

And that ladies and gentlemen is why I *HATE* taking the bus. It's such a jungle out there.

DEVIANTART! Nowhere will you find a more wretched hive of scum and villany...we must be cautious.

Maybe all men got one big soul that everyone's a part of. All faces are the same man....one big self.
